Icom IC-A25CE icom ic a25 air band radio aviation walkie talkie

Main features
Robust 6 W Output and Extended Battery Life
At the heart of the IC-A25CE is a high-efficiency transmitter producing 6 W PEP (1.8 W carrier) on the COM band. This elevated output power—an increase over the previous IC-A24E—extends communication range, ensuring reliable contact with ATC, FSS, and other aircraft even in fringe coverage areas or mountainous terrain. Power is supplied by Icom’s intelligent BP-288 Li-ion pack (2350 mAh typ.), which delivers up to 10.5 hours of operation under a standard 5:5:90 duty cycle. A detailed battery-status screen provides real-time voltage and health data, allowing users to optimize charging cycles and avoid unexpected power loss during flight operations.
Wide-Band VHF Aviation Radio Coverage
Operating from 118.000 MHz to 136.992 MHz, the IC-A25CE covers the entire civil aviation COM spectrum with both 25 kHz and 8.33 kHz channel spacing, meeting ICAO and EASA requirements for congested airspace. A separate NAV receiver (108.000–136.992 MHz) is available on the sibling IC-A25NE model, but the CE variant focuses on pure COM functionality, streamlining the interface for pilots who primarily need voice communications. Adjacent-channel rejection exceeds 70 dB and spurious response immunity surpasses 75 dB, ensuring clear audio free from interference caused by nearby transmitters or avionics.
300 Memory Channels and “Flip-Flop” Recall
Memory management is critical for flight safety and efficiency. The icom a25ce stores 300 channels in 15 groups, allowing operators to organize frequencies by region, route, or mission type. A “flip-flop” recall function keeps the last ten used channels instantly accessible via the directional keypad or channel knob, simplifying rapid transitions between ground, tower, and en-route frequencies. Channel names of up to 12 characters can be programmed for at-a-glance identification, reducing head-down time in the cockpit.
Rugged, Flight-Ready Construction
Weighing 384 g with battery and antenna, the icom a25ce is built to survive the rigors of daily aviation use. The housing meets IP57 standards for dust and water resistance, while MIL-STD-810G testing ensures reliable operation across temperature extremes (-20 °C to +55 °C), vibration, shock, and humidity. A large, high-contrast 2.3-inch LCD remains readable in direct sunlight, and a night-mode palette preserves night vision during twilight or IFR conditions.
Intuitive Interface and Emergency Features
Large, backlit keys provide tactile feedback even with gloves, and frequently used functions can be assigned to direct-access hotkeys. An enlarged flat-sheet keypad reduces the risk of mis-keying critical frequencies. For emergency situations, the 121.5 MHz emergency key transmits instantly on the international distress frequency, while the built-in VOX function allows hands-free activation when pilots are occupied with flight controls.
