Motorola GM360 Mobile Radio

Motorola GM360 Mobile Radio

My extensive experience of using GM300 before did its job – I formed an opinion in my head about the durability, reliability, indestructibility of stations of this brand and in general the opinion that a device with such a name has a minimum of problems and especially does not need adjustment but …
Having picked up GM360 I tried to calm myself down for a long time. The fact is that holding it in my hands I could not believe that in this device nothing would have to be finished and “polished”. The practice of communicating with GM300 “relaxed” :)) Personally, its design seemed to me too much like an amateur radio craft with a bunch of functions, settings and which would need to be “combed” for a long time before I could get a stable connection. Smaller than GM300 in size, plastic of a different quality … Actually, that’s how it turned out. Compared to GM300, the sound of the built-in speaker of this station is less pronounced in the low frequency range, and lies more in the mid range. That signature, pleasant, low-frequency, if you can say “bass” like GM300 you will not get here. The built-in speaker is loud enough, but due to the design features of the “Mroda” the sound is not the same – there is no acoustic box.
I was pleased that there are no “jumpers” on the accessory connector, and therefore you do not have to worry about anything falling off at the back, etc. when installing or removing the station in the car.
The tangent … its appearance, like the station itself, personally upsets me, but it copes with the task with “Hurray”. The signal is clear, loud, intelligible. I note that both the tangent and the desktop microphone from GM300 are also suitable and work in this series.
Front panel … The front panel has an LCD screen and 10 function buttons, 4 of which are programmable at the discretion of the user or depending on the purpose of the signaling parameter.
Programming is done from the WINDOWS(C) environment.
In terms of settings, the station is very flexible and multifunctional. All settings are done programmatically. This particular feature sometimes started to irritate me, since it sometimes took as long as an hour to program it! Let me explain: the station has 255 memory channels, and as you understand, each of them is registered separately. Each channel has its own page in the software with 4 tabs, and not like before with GM300 where all the parameters for the channel are on the screen at once. Now imagine: 255 channels with 4 parameter tabs for each, and this is not counting the signaling settings, compiling scan sheets and other general functions… If you are going to program without experience, stock up on valerian or another strong sedative :))
In terms of reception, the station seemed a little “dumber” to me than GM300, but this is my personal opinion. The signal on transmission is good, clean.

What I did was lower the “noise reduction” level a little.

Let me summarize:
+ RELIABLE
+ VERY FLEXIBLE IN FUNCTIONALITY

– COMPLICATED SOFTWARE
– “FLAT” SOUND (compared to GM300)
