Kenwood NX-3820 professional mobile radio is built for integrators who need one box that can follow a fleet from analog today to NXDN tomorrow and DMR next year. The radio ships with three personalities in firmware—NXDN mobile radio, DMR Tier II and wide/narrow FM—so a utility crew can leave the yard at 5 a.m. on legacy 25 kHz FM, switch to 6.25 kHz NXDN at noon for double channel capacity, and still reach the old handhelds on the same frequency pair.
